Dr. Ashley Misner and Alejandre GV

Owner/Manager Dr. Ashley Misner has been involved in the Paso Fino breed since the age of 8. As a kid she spent the majority of her time riding the trails and occasionally competing in local shows. At the age of 11 she got her first Paso Fino, Alejandre GV, as a weanling and he is currently enjoying his retirement! He was the first horse she ever trained. Although there wasn't much time to ride during college and veterinary school, she never lost her passion for the Paso Fino horse! Since earning her veterinary medicine degree at The Ohio State University, she has been able to spend more time enjoying the horses. Scenic View Farm LLC is a dream come true! She is involved in all aspects of the Paso Fino breed, both in the show ring and on the trails. She is currently Vice President and one of the Directors for the Great Lakes Paso Fino Horse Association. She is also a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). She helps provide exceptional care to all of the horses on the farm. She also owns and operates a small animal veterinary clinic in Hartville Ohio.

Owner/Manager Joe Misner thoroughly enjoys working around the farm, whether it be with the animals or with the farm machinery. He is a great handyman and can usually be found on the tractor! He is responsible for most of the daily operations on the farm. When he's not helping with farm chores, he can be found in his garage working on muscle cars with his family or at car shows. Joe is proud to be an Eagle Scout since 2006.

Instructor Amanda Neal is our lesson instructor and she is looking forward to getting to meet her students! Here's a little info directly from Amanda:

Hi! My name’s Amanda and I’m so excited to work with you or your child. Here’s a little info about me! I have loved horses since I can remember and I’ve been riding them since I was 6 years old. I’ve been teaching lessons for 20+ years, beginning my teaching career at 19 years old through the YMCA’s various horseback riding programs. At 29 years old, I was the Equestrian Director for one of the nation’s largest YMCA year-round horse programs with over 85 horses in the herd! After moving back to the Canton area, I began teaching at Nickajack Farms Riding Academy and taught there for several years.

To sum up my teaching style, I’d say that first and foremost safety is incredibly important to me and I foster safe students in my lessons by teaching them about the whole horse. We will talk about things like how your horse is feeling today and how you can come to know that, based on your horse’s expressions, movements, etc. I majored in Equine Science in college, so I’ve got so much to share! I love to be silly with my students, and much like Buddy the Elf, smiling is my favorite. I’m happy to teach absolute beginners through experienced riders. I enjoy both teaching skills from scratch and giving more experienced riders an occasional “tune-up.” I’m a mom of four and I treat my students the way I’d want a good teacher to treat mine; with compassion, joy, and with a true passion for what I’m teaching.

I currently teach on my draft cross mare, Destiny, (pictured) who has been my heart horse for 9 years and my lesson horse for 7 years. She was also a therapy horse for one year. I will also be adding a pony to my school horses in the upcoming months so that my smaller riders will have a smaller option available. Please reach out to me with any questions you may have. I’m happy to answer and would love to explore if I’m the right instructor for you!
